I can’t say that no one saw this coming, because many definitely did. But ‘Welcome to the Collin Morikowa Show’. This kid is an absolute superstar and we’re going to be seeing him win golf tournaments for a lonnnnngg time hopefully. He’s 24 year old, won SIX times in just twenty six attempts, professionally. Two of those six wins are major championships that he won the very first time he paid them. Like, are you kidding me? Golf has seen some pretty incredible runs, starts to careers, ends too I guess, but this dude is playing on some other type of level VERY early in his career. And no, I don’t think anyone should be drawing references to Tiger just yet, but best believe if he locks down a Masters or a US Open, or both next year, or hell even another major championship, we’ll be screaming from the rooftops. He’s definitely playing to the caliber we saw from Spieth early in his career.
With the win, he climbs to 1st Place in the Ryder Cup Rankings, ahead of DJ and DeChambeau and he jumped from 10th to 1st in the FedEx Cup Rankings, just 64 points ahead of Jordan Spieth. He’s not playing in the 3M Open up in Minnesota this weekend, (I mean I would probably take the week off too) but he’s instead on a plane to Tokyo, JP to represent the US at the Olympic Games later this month. Then he’ll be back stateside to get into playoff form for the Northern Trust, BMW Championship and the TOUR Championship. Oh, and don’t forget Ryder Cup at the end of September. It’s going to be a great 10 weeks of golf on the horizon!
