Bonus Golf

Something we all love as golfers and golf fans is more golf.  Whether it’s squeezing in a couple extra holes or an extra nine after a round with your friends or our favorite tournament going to a playoff, it’s simply one of the best things about our favorite pastime.  This past weekend in Connecticut at the Travelers Championship gave us one of the longest sudden death playoffs in the history of the game.  Harris English and Kramer Hickok threw down for 8 sudden death holes of bonus golf, knocking down putt after putt for par, under tremendous pressure until English posted a birdie on the 8th hole to claim his second win of the season, following his win in Hawaii at the Sentry tournament of Champions earlier this season.

We also saw Bubba Watson put together a pretty solid tournament, who was chasing his 4th title at the Travelers Championship until late in his round on Sunday, leading at 13-under went bogey, bogey, bogey, double bogey and gave up the lead.  Brooks Koepka and Kevin Kisner we’re also sniffing the top of the leaderboard and playing some solid golf but didn’t have enough to pull through.

Harris English becomes the 5th two-time winner on the PGA Tour this season and climbs to 2nd place in the FedEx Cup Standings, up from 13th.   The boys travel to Detroit, MI this week for the Rocket Mortgage Classic where defending champion Bryson DeChambeau will look to repeat.  He’s the favorite at +775. Hopefully we see some more bonus golf this weekend.
