Golf fans, we’re back! While it’s not the beginning of the PGA Tour season per say, this first week back after the holidays is when the season really kicks off for most of us. Kudos for the PGA Tour for hosting back-to-back weeks in Hawaii, starting with this week’s Sentry TOC (Tournament of Champions).
The Sentry TOC is one of the best tournaments of the entire year, in my opinion. And if you like watching good golf, it’s probably one of your favorites as well. There’s very few tournaments throughout the year where we as golf fans get to see the best of the best, uninterrupted. The Sentry TOC field is made up of all the year’s previous tournament winners, and aside from The Masters we really don’t see this heavy of a saturation of the world’s top golfers. I’d even go as far to say that it outpaces the other majors in some years. I make that statement because you have to WIN to be invited, therefore you know the competition is fierce.
So who do we like this week in Kapaula, this week? The easy choice is Justin Thomas, who has won two of his last five starts at the Plantation Course. He’s listed behind favorite to win, John Rahm, the number one player in the world. We are also interested in seeing how Colin Morikowa, Patrick Cantlay and of course Bryson fare in their return to the links after the holiday. Cameron Smith and Jordan Spieth listed at+2200 is a good value. The world is waiting for Spieth to turn it back on, and a win this weekend would be a great start to 2022.
