The Masters golf tournament is the first of four major championships in men’s professional golf. It is hosted in the first full week in April, every year. The tournament is always played at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. It is the only one of the four major golf tournaments that does not rotate venues. The course was founded by Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts who began hosting the tournament in 1934.
Fans, referred to as “patrons,” have the unique opportunity to follow the world’s top players as they compete for the coveted green jacket IF they have access to a “badge.” These badges (tickets) can be as coveted as the green jacket.
There are three days of Practice Rounds and four days of Competitive or Tournament Rounds. One notable difference is that cameras are allowed on the golf course during Practice Rounds but not on the Competitive Rounds. The Par-3 tournament, held on Wednesday, affords patrons the opportunity to see the players and their families up close. Holes range from 70 to 140-yards, and the course is located in the northeast of the property.
